late june

Matt made it home safely and happy from Europe.

Catie and I turned 21 way back in May but our godmothers were too busy with families and we were too busy with school to celebrate with them until this past weekend. Mom came too, plus some cousins. They took us for afternoon tea at a fancy shmancy hotel that was also hosting some bridal showers and the wedding party that the First Family came home for. It was pretty neat.

We ate breakfast at Ann Sather, which is like, totally rightfully famous for cinnamon rolls. Next time you're here, Jenna, seriously.

Then we went to tea!

BABE

look at these baby breads!

When we went out with our friends it was pretty funny because I didn't order anything to drink so it kind of got skipped over that it was my birthday too; the restaurant ended up bringing Catie out a cake + candle but not me. Finally got a lil somethin. :p

crowded bus = Catie and I drove it home
My mom is all antsy and stuff all the time so demanded we go on a walk; we ended up at the dog beach in the harbor and watched the dogs swim and play and be the best for a good while.

I've read like 4 books this week! :o and I worked a whole lot in between, so not many photos, although I am in the middle of a disposable. In a week I'll be packing to go to Ox-Bow for July and I quit my job so Wednesday should be my last day, plus we're finishing this issue of the zine to have some time off + take it easy with printing for once and I don't know what's happening next but as my mom likes to tell me, somehow it all works out. We'll see.

into june

june always solidifies summer for me. the weather's been perfect here, like 70s and chilly at night, and while I still haven't been to the beach (working days is sort of the worst), I'm getting into summer mode. working on some projects I don't think I'll end up sharing (namely this pizza) but it's good. most of what summer is for me is just time, letting things happen and calming down about it. or trying to.

matt is in europe for a couple weeks, this lunch was courtesy my mom's being bored with food and us shouting pizza when she asked for meal ideas. we all got to make our own :)

(mine: pepperoni, green peppers, and onions)

(Matt's had pepperoni, onion, green pepper, mushrooms, and tomatoes. He also says the secret is putting a little cheddar cheese on top, but I don't know why)
My mom was very excited to have Memorial Day off so we made cupcakes and decorated them with sprinkles. Hi Nora, too, and shout-out to the vertical sprinkling skills.

Indiana has a lot of orchards; June is prime time for picking strawberries and raspberries and chart terries (cool, brane) and so my mom wanted to get some to eat. We spent a few hours picking things, although Dominic mostly just threw them as pictured and I mostly thought about how cool it is to just eat things right from the plant. I don't particularly like raspberries but I found them totally delicious.

strawberry babies

(dominic took this) (maybe I will convince him art matters yet)

raspberries are seriously cool to pick, they are like little hives around the center that comes off; I never thought about it before but it's so clever. way to go, nateur

Gus found a baby deer that got hit by a car so he rescued it. After struggling to catch it (only one leg is broken), he brought it over to see what the heck he should do with it and so we looked at it and fed it some milk and then he took it to the vet the next day. They are setting its leg and hopefully it will be okay. He named it Buck.

I didn't even know I got sunburned picking berries but then I took a shower and it sort of hurt so what do you know? Also baby freckles.
