summer's ending

The past two weeks were more back and forth between Chicago and Indiana; lots of lasts for the summer and firsts for starting another semester (also my last :o one). Meetings and tent dates and hangin outs.

Catie told me when to press the shutter for this ;)
We had a delicious mostly Polish dinner at our Rogers Park friends' apartment that included red velvet cupcakes, pierogis, sausage, rye bread, watermelon and broccolis. It was so good. Shout-out to Ellen for cookin and to all those ladies always.

Then Catie and I went home for a few more days, and Catie played Sims on the train.

We visited brother Matt at werks with Matt and Nora and it was really fun and we got to see a parade of all of Matt's friends/co-workers.

Something weird was happening at Office Depot but we don't know what
Then we had a basement hang and camped out in the backyard (hell yes more long exposure starries).

The next morning Mom took me and Catie to the farmer's market in Michigan City to get poblano peppers and look around.

This guy/family come from Chicago and he is French and they make cheese and breads and all sorts of beautiful things. Mom was in love.

Then we finally found some poblano peps

"Put that on a dress and wear it"
Then Dominic had a soccer game so we all went to watch. They won 6-0. The team is killin' it this season, so far.

After every game they run from their side of the field to the fans' and it's the sort of dumb thing that makes me tear up. SPORTS

Then my mom made chile rellenos which are her fave things to get at Mexican restaurants; if you don't know Spanish/ have never had one, it is a poblano pepper filled with cheese (llenar = to fill). These first ones were fried, then she made some more that were baked. Not quite right but still so delicious. For this meal we also had goat cheese on fresh bread from the farmer's market and tomatoes from Matt's garden, a Mexican salad of all sorts of vegetables + red wine vinegar + crushed red pepper, fruits, and fried eggplant from Matt's garden too. And chocolate milk.

Donimic is relly strong
Every time I am home for break I have made it a tradition to go to Mount Baldy or some part of the National Lakeshore, so Matt and I went on my last day home. One of the many cool things about the dunes is that it goes from forest / wooded dunes straight to the water. There's a very small beach, but it's so clearly not been humaned. Top five fave places.

There's this gianttttt rock that is just beneath the surface of the shore kind of far down, it was slimy but really cool

These are probably 80º up. So steep. Like a sand cliff.

This is the creek that I almost sank into last fall; it goes from the woods to the lake. Named Piss Creek because it is always brown and gross lookin from the minerals.

Matt was learning how to focus for the first time and he did a better job than anyone else I know

That diagonal tree is a Y shape that is leaned perfectly against the other vertical one
And now I am back in Chicago until I don't know when besides Thanksgiving. Here is me finishing the  roll on a lil walk around the neighborhood.

Her hair was relly prettie

School starts Wednesday; I have 18 credits of classes at this point and an internship and a job, plus On the Cusp, plans for lots of friendship, and too many good shows in the near future. Way to go, 2012 summer. You were a good one.
