SPERO (chi--> chs)

I just spent a few days in South Carolina with my best friend Jessika (here is her cargo, idk where else to link you to but w/e, check her work out it's real good). We met at Ox-Bow the summer of 2012 and had an incredible time there and she's been to Indiana with me a couple times and was always bugging me to come visit Charleston. It finally worked out that she was home on winter break and I could request off and get super fucking cheap plane tickets, so woop-de-doo, we did it! Had a blast. Next level. I took a bunch of video also but am saving that to edit this week; I carried around my camcorder, point and shoot, and ae-1 for three days straight, ran out of film, and this is what I have to show for it so far.

this pic was the packing pic; um guess I really took a dark abyss with me idk

train to midway takes ~1.5 hours (woof)

I got to the airport like 3 hours early don't tell anyone

Jessika picked me up from the airport in Charleston and I had to stop myself from repeating how great it was to be there. :-) Then we got to her house and went to bed pretty quick bc we were both tired
The next day we had a quick chick-fil-a breakfast then hung around for a bit at home

I forgot to say but I didn't edit any of these photos so deal with greenblacks
Charleston has the best bridge I've ever seen. It's so beautiful

I frickin love palm trees, like, literally give me a palm tree in my house

So then we had lunch with Mrs. Meier-Stocker at this restaurant called Slightly North of Broad

I didn't take a pic but the cauliflower soup I had was the Best Soup I've Ever Had. Unbelievable good.
This is panko-crusted pork with a fennel thingy underdneath and a mustard sauce. it was good too

And bread pudding for dessert (yum too)

Then we walked around downtown for a long time. It was like, 63º and I was loving it completely, blue sky, etc etc. Bless blue sky. Gimme a Dalton Day poem about it.

After I took this pic of the blue sky I sat up and there were three dolphins swimmin around in front of where we were lying on the pier. Like literally what's up. I got em on vid so watch out

Swings on the pier, bless

famous cobblestones or w/e :)

It was golden hour as we walked around; this part of downtown is called the Battery, there's like, a bunch of war things and cannons. These houses below are called Rainbow Row bc they're all lovely colors

beautiful water, right????

dgms on this house. fuckin AU dreamin, fuckin what. god. I can't stop looking at it. it's like an american pemberley. gimme a tile entryway and some fuckin piano music chillin. sweating through the summer with a goddamn lemonade on the porch. look at those columns. palm trees. i wanna die.

this dog was chillin inside a fence, didn't give a Shit about us

then we got to the park to watch the sun set and found Heaven-Sent Dogs

At one count there were 15 dogs running around playing together with ropes and a football and tennis balls and owners just chatting like old friends, all in their khakis and casual nice jeans after work. It was so so beautiful. We felt so grateful

this is a dog named Goose and idk if you know but a few Christmases ago my mom kept bugging me asking what I wanted and I didn't want anything so I would just say a puppy; she ended up getting me a gd fake lil puppy that even fake-breathed and I named it Goose bc that's a great name, right? and here is a Goose the Dog actually. Bless.

um then we watched the sunset over the river and I have never felt so blessed as I did when hundreds of birds flew right over us away from the sun out of nowhere for a good minute solid

and Luna rose like five minutes later ???? unbelievable

I want this wallpaper tbh

Then that night we met Jessika's friend Kellan for dinner with his friend Paul at Oriental Garden but I was still completely full from lunch so just had some fried rice while they ate sushi! It was very good. Then we drove to wild SC countryside known as Hugee off the highway about five minutes and stopped on a bridge to stargaze!! It was incredible. The bridge was over a marsh and it was so dark but also not that dark; the water made a lot of fog around and it was sort of cloudy but Jessika had some digital cameras and a tripod so we got some really cool pics. Obv these are just film/ longg exposures but I like em the same! ugh life is so frickin cool

This is straight shooting at the moon (dalton if you're reading this we said 'Shoot the moon' like twenty times in reference to taking photos and I was like <3_<3 about tackle box ii, obviously); the clouds are the blurries and otherwise stars and I guess moon flares if that's a thing

This is a maybeee 20s exposure off one side of the bridge/ isn't it amazing it's like daytime almost

The crew shootin pics of Orion

Everytime a car passed we'd be able to hear it coming for at least a minute before it got there it was so quiet; with the fog it would just appear like a ghost or something, very cool

(these 2 are from my point and shoot/ shitty flash)

We stayed out for a few hours and got nice and cold and had lots of fun and chatted then went home and went to bed.
Wednesday we didn't sleep as late so got ready then went to Bojangle's for lunch (um wow, wow wow)

BLESS THAT BISCUIT UGHHGH

and drove to Johns Island to see Angel Oak, which is a 400yo tree that is AMAZING

I wanted to Legolas so much but couldn't; all those signs are basically telling you not to climb or carve or set up things on the tree, etc. how amazing tho
then my roll ran out and this next one is expired ektar that Jessika gave me, hence the blue coming up. oh well whatever

that's a branch, like, there are branches half underground bc they're so HUGE

that's me standing in front of Angel Oak :-)

Then we drove over to Folley Beach and WOWIE I SAW THE OCEAN!!!! did some calculation and I think it's been like 5 years since I've seen the atlantic and when we stopped here I cried for a sec absolutely, just, it's so amazing

Then we drove a lil further to the public beach/lighthouse area. There's a maybe quarter of a mile walk from the road to the beach and there was a lot of graffiti that I felt

and demolished houses

then we got to the beach and it was so Beautiful all over again

tried to save this starfish but idrk about starfish so not much hope for it

completely forgot seashells are a thing

and Folley Beach has lots of these old trees that are like standing driftwood. very beautiful

we walked down a ways and it kind of clears out into this giant view of marshland

then I stuck my feet in the water and drank some saltwater just for fun

set up camp on some trees for an hour just fuckin chillin and loving it, it was a lil chillier this day but the sun was so nice. i love the sun.

Then we decided to make a run for catching the sunset from the bridge so scooted back to Charleston

this photo is a complete Mystery to me, it's just walking back like same as the next one?? but Dark

there's the bridge again, how great is it!

So then I was left with just my point and shoot roll which is actually still in my camera bc I only got like half through it in the remaining 18 hours I was there :-( so the rest is forthcoming/ in video form.
fuckin loved it.
